Chico High School's JV baseball team used a doubleheader sweep of visiting Enterprise Tuesday, 8-2 and 11-1.

In the first game, Chico was down a run in the bottom of the second when starting pitcher Kyle Twisselman walked, Morey Marshall singled, Corey Henderson singled and first baseman Alex Mathews came to the plate and drilled a single to score two runs. Mathews and Nate Long also scored in the inning.

Twisselman held the Hornets in check by going six innings, recording six strikeouts and allowing just one hit, which he gave up in the first.

"It was one of his better outings of the season," remarked Panthers coach Kirk Bruchler.

In the bottom of the fifth, Taylor Hill singled, followed by a singles by Jack Amaro and Clayton Shuler. Twisselman hit a fielder's choice to score a run and then Marshall laced a single that scored two runs.

Stefano DiSano singled and scored in the sixth.

Chico again played great defense, carrying over from the previous PV game, Bruchler said. Shuler and Hill both were solid defensively. Marshall was 2-for-3 and Henderson finished 2-for-2.

In the nightcap, Chico was visitor to allow for Enterprise to play its home game because it was rained out; the teams thus agreed to play a doubleheader in Chico.

DiSano walked in the first, stole second and scored on Amaro's single. Shuler also scored in the first.

That was practically all the runs Panthers starting hurler Ezio Bruchler would need. The sophomore left-hander pitched five innings while allowing an unearned run, giving up two hits, and recording five strikeouts and no walks. It was one of Bruchler's best games.

With the Panthers leading 2-1, the big blast of the game was in the top of the third as Twisselman laced a triple to score three runs. Chico plated five more runs in the top of the fifth with Amaro doubling in the frame.

Kevin Campos again collected a pitch-hit single. Hill was 3-for-3 while Amaro 2-for-3 with a double.

The Panthers moved to 10-2 in Eastern Athletic League play, 18-4 on the season.
