Early lead evaporates quickly in season finale
Chico High School's JV baseball team suffered a disappointing finish to its season Tuesday in a 16-2 loss to host Foothill.
The Panthers nonetheless finished 11-3 in Eastern Athletic League play and 19-5 on the year.
Taylor Hill was hit by a pitch in the first inning, and Clayton Shuler laced a triple to score the first run. Foothill responded with an unearned run in its half of the first.
In the top of the second, Morey Marshall drilled a home run to left to make it 2-1. However, Foothill than scored eight runs in its half of the frame, on a combination of errors, hits and walks.
Jake Amaro later doubled and Nate Long – who had an outstanding season – singled in his last at-bat. Kyle Twisselman pitched the last inning for Chico and held Foothill scoreless.
